My Travel Music Playlist.

A Travel playlist makes my travels.

A good playlist is essential.

If you’re anything like me you can’t even walk to the shop without your earphones in. If you forget them, you inwardly sigh.

life on mars

Bus, tram, train, boat and plane journeys are ten times better with your favourite songs playing, or when you’re delving into a new and unexpected album your friend recommended to you.

Certain songs do remind me of certain places, and I love that.

Songs take me back to a certain place or get me excited for my next place.

A song tells a story, and can be interpreted in many different ways, and that is why I thought I’d make a compilation of my ultimate travel playlist to share with you all.

When I say travel playlist, don’t expect the usual songs that have travel in the title, or are all based around travel. No, my playlist is just a playlist to listen to on your travels, on the bus from the airport, sat in your hostel room, in bed planning your next adventure.

Some of these songs may relate to travel, others brighten my day, some make me ponder, a lot make me look out the window of a train and imagine I am in the music video, Β the rest are just really good songs.

So in no particular order, here it goes.

1. Ben Howard- Old Pine

2. Wilco- Jesus, etc.

3. Estelle ft Kanye West- American Boy

4. Billy Bragg & Wilco- California Stars

5. Frank Turner- Photosynthesis

6. Slaves- Cheer Up London

Do you have any songs you’d add?

Let me know! I am always looking to add more songs to my travel playlist!

‘Til next time. ??

  • I love this! Everytime I listen to (sitting on) the dock of the bay – I can visualise beautiful white sand stretching all around me. My fave travel song by a mile!

  • Gosh, feeling old. Don’t know half these songs πŸ™‚ I do love that it doesn’t matter how long it’s been since you’ve heard a song (that you know) you can always remember the lyrics.

  • cool list of songs…they get me in the travel spirit for sure! You might be too young for this one..but is a cool song

Do you know the way to San Jose? I love San Jose CA and I love that song!

    Have a great weekend!

  • I totally agree a good playlist is necessary for travel. I tend to have different kinds of playlists for different things. For example, I always listen to country music on planes. When I’m walking around a new city I’ll put on a podcast of the city. When I am driving or in car, typically old songs I can belt out!

    • Aww I like that! Yer I also do, I have a walking to work playlist, a listening in the shower playlist haha never thought about it until now! Car music is the best especially if you are on your own! (:

  • Awesome, eclectic playlist! I totally agree, a good playlist is so key and will instantly remind you of the place you were when you heard it. My most recent musical memory is with Cake by the Ocean in Paris. It was playing EVERYWHERE!

    • Thank you! I just listened to that song and it’s very catchy! haha I love when a certain song is playing everywhere, when I was in Croatia two years ago it was I Follow Rivers- Lykke Li the dance version, I loved it!

  • Some similarities between our list of songs. Of course, we have to include a few from the Mickey Mouse clubhouse and Barney in ours to keep the children happy. But we also want to make sure they are exposed to proper travel music πŸ™‚

  • Interesting list, I also adore music when I’m on-the-go. Do you know listening to more soothing music on the flight can help you sleep better? The art looks quite interesting and cool too, thanks for sharing!
